‘Green Education’ often gets left behind as children make the move to 2nd Level Education. This is especially true for children who leave education early. It has been demonstrated that programmes which are based on experiential education in a natural environment can have a profound effect on young people who have been excluded from mainstream education. An ‘alternative’ curriculum comprising environmental guardianship, gardening, farming, service and skills gathering can lead to profound and lasting change in participants. 

ESDGC (Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship) – tailored programmes that bring our young people into a place of confidence and ability, and that will give them the practical and emotional tools needed to successfully navigate an uncertain future will be a key area of Green Futures work.
