The Acorn was chosen for our Mentor Emblem because within every Acorn lies the possibility of a Mighty Oak. Our Mentors can play a key role in ensuring that the seeds in our Communities are watered with the support needed to ensure successful, sustainable growth.

Mentor
Our mentoring programme connects Community Groups and Green Social Entrepreneurs with professionals who can help them to develop their plans and businesses. Communities have passion and commitment in abundance when it comes to helping their communities but they sometimes need access to the specialist knowledge and support needed to make their vision become a reality. Our Mentoring programme seeks to bridge that gap.
We aim to build a network of mentors, partners and volunteers across Offaly who can utilise their many skills to help create positive and lasting change.
We are looking for Mentors who are/have been professionals and who come from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. Mentors can be educators, artists, environmentalists, community and business leaders. They may hold expert knowledge in the legal & financial world, or they may be entrepreneurs who have successfully grown their own ventures and now want to help Community groups to grow sustainably and succeed as viable competitors in the green and social enterprise sectors.
If you recognise yourself in the following you could have what it takes to become a Mentor:
- You run or work for a company that supports & encourages Corporate Volunteering.
- You need a vehicle to develop your own or your employees’ skills and leadership qualities.
- You run or work for a company that is passionate about green issues.
- You feel that empowering communities and individuals is of paramount importance as we move into the 21st Century.
- You are currently unemployed but have years of experience and knowledge that you have accumulated.
- You are retired and yet still want to use your skills & share your knowledge to help others.
- You enjoy meeting new people.
- You are able to guide people in a way that helps them to reach their own decisions. You have a great capacity for listening.
- You love feeling that your time makes a difference.
- You want to be a part of a unique project.

Gold Sponsor
We are actively seeking Gold Sponsors to support Green Offaly in the delivery of our Green Projects and Green Futures Programmes. Green Offaly has a 20 year strategy to assist all sectors of our Communities in benefitting from the seismic transition ahead. It is undoubtedly a huge task and one that will require substantial financial input. Minimum Gold Sponsorship amount is €100.00. All donations received will go into our dedicated, transparent account which will support ‘Green Futures’, the charitable arm of Green Offaly.We have many avenues of giving open to our Gold Sponsors:
Energy
You can donate to a Community Owned Energy Scheme – this could be in the form of providing a land bank for a Green Energy installation or a monetary donation to get a Community started in their application to the grid process.
Education
Your donation could sponsor a Green Training Programme for young people or contribute to an green education campaign.
Community
Perhaps you would like to sponsor a Community Woodland, Garden or river project.
Arts
Your donation could be used for a SciArt awareness campaign where an artist is linked with a scientist or researcher in order to communicate their findings to the public in a visual and direct way.
