Green Arts Initiative Ireland
Here in Offaly we are extremely lucky to be home to the Lough Boora Sculpture & Discovery Park, an internationally recognised visitor location which showcases incredible land art. We have a thriving Arts scene and are blessed with some truly exceptional artists. Tina Claffey, whose profound images of the bog are captured in her book ‘Tapestry of Light’ formed the inspiration for this website! From visual, digital, sculptural, film, traditional, abstract, crafts, dance, theatre, writing and many more, we have some seriously good artists living and working among us!
In light of this and as part of our vision to become Ireland’s first Carbon neutral county, we are excited to be establishing a Green Arts Initiative portal here in Offaly.
About The Green Arts Initiative
“The Green Arts Initiative in Ireland is an extension of the Green Arts Initiative operated by Creative Carbon Scotland and aims to provide Irish arts organisations with the resources and support to help build a green Irish arts community. Run by Theatre Forum and Catríona Fallon, under the guidance of Creative Carbon Scotland, the Green Arts Initiative in Ireland aims to:
- Support members with practical advice on reducing their carbon footprint and overall environmental impacts.
- Provide members with opportunities to enhance their sustainability competencies through training and networking.
- Collect information about what organisations are currently doing to improve their sustainability.”

If you are an arts organisation based in Offaly we would love you to consider joining the Green Arts Initiative Ireland. Here you will find guides and resources that are relevant to greening up your arts practice. All organisations who have signed up will feature on the Green Arts Offaly section of our website.
