Today is the 51st Earth Day and Green Offaly has joined the World’s Largest Environmental Movement!
From its very inception, Earth Day has been about community mobilisation:
In 1970, 20 million individuals — at the time, 10% of the U.S. population — mobilised to call for greater protections for our planet. This became the world’s first Earth Day.
Fast forward 51 years and Green Offaly are aiming to mobilise the 77,000 members of our Communities here in Offaly to begin the journey towards a sustainable future.
We hope that the website gives you a good idea of what Green Offaly aims to achieve over the next 20 years in partnership with the Communities of Offaly.
