What is Green Offaly Projects?
Green Offaly Projects is the income generating aspect of our Organisation. We aim to be a self financing company and as such we are building income generating Social Enterprise into the heart of everything we do. A Green Offaly Project could be the conversion of an old building into a multi purpose training and research facility, or it could be the creation of a Green Arts and Tourist Accommodation Centre . Whatever shape a Green Offaly Project takes it will always be powered by Community imagination and renewable energy!
When a community comes together to imagine a new future for their town anything is possible.
The Social Enterprise
A Social Enterprise operates as a commercial business which has been formed to solve a societal need (in our case the Climate and Biodiversity Crisis). In other words they are competitive, innovative and entrepreneurial businesses that put People, Places and Planet first.
Every good Social Enterprise needs a home! When embarking on a project we will seek a Community Asset to house it in. Development Trusts work to secure assets in the form of derelict buildings or unused land areas in Towns and Villages.
As Green Offaly is based over a countywide area, our work will be steadily evolving outwards in order to establish a presence in all the main centres of Offaly. The form in which this presence will take will be informed by local need and geographical position and will be delivered via Green Offaly Projects in partnership with local Communities.
