The majestic Crane stands at 4 feet tall with a wingspan of over 7 feet! In nature, Cranes are an “umbrella species” whose well-being assures that of the ecosystem at large. Cranes are connected with the myths, history and culture of ancient Ireland.
The steady destruction of their wetland habitat saw the Crane disappear from Ireland around the 16th and 17th century. Now they are showing the first tentative signs of returning.
